CARING FOR OUR MINISTERS AND THEIR WIDOWS
How can we best provide and care for our ministers? Whether active in ministry or already retired, they face unique needs and often with limited resources. The newly-formed OPC Committee on Ministerial Care seeks to partner with presbyteries and local congregations, providing resources to serve the faithful servants God has given us.
Who Cares for Our Ministers?
We all care about these servants God has given us. But who is actually responsible for their care? Is it the local congregations? The Presbytery of which they are a member? Or is it the whole Orthodox Presbyterian Church?
Recognizing that we all have a role to play, the Committee on Ministerial Care (CMC) was formed to bring greater focus to this important ministry, and to partner with local congregations and presbyteries in providing for the needs of our ministers today and in the years ahead.
The Committee on Ministerial Care is both a continuation of past efforts and a wellspring of new initiatives.
CMC has taken up the mantle of the former Committee on Pensions in overseeing a retirement plan which is available to all OPC ministers. CMC also now administers the Obadiah Fund for the benefit of those retired ministers and their widows with Diaconal needs.
